Nuna MIXX Journey
The first edition of the Nuna Mixx was first seen at the ABC Kids Expo in 2014 and when a few months later it hit the market, it was marketed as a high-end luxury stroller with some cool features that were not available on any other strollers at the time.
The stroller was upgraded for 2017/2018, making it more user-friendly and it was given the name Mixx2.
With the biggest changes being seen in the frame, wheels, and fabrics. The Nuna Mixx went from high-end luxury to even more high-end and even more luxurious.
In 2019, the Mixx was updated yet again and given back its old name of Nuna Mixx, which is a little confusing but for this article, we are going to refer to it as the Mixx 2019.
The upgrades this time included a new all-season seat, as well as new colors and patterns. This is also the first version that came with the ring adapter for Nuna infant car seats and it is included in the basic model.
Then in 2020, Nuna launched the Nuna MIXX NEXT. This model featured some great upgrades with the biggest being the new suspension.
Nuna also made changes to the folding mechanism, making the stroller a little more compact, which is always a good feature.
So let’s take a closer look at these three Nuna Mixx models: Nuna MIXX2 (2017/2018), Nuna MIXX 2019, and Nuna MIXX NEXT 2020.

With the launch of the Nuna Mixx Next came even more upgrades. To start with the weight of the stroller was decreased to 24.3 pounds but it was still suitable from birth to 50 pounds.
It had an upgraded suspension, is even smoother to push, and the redesigned frame now comes with a more compact fold.
It also kept some of the great features from the previous models such as the no-rethread harness, all-season seat, and removable seat pad, and the ring adapter is also included.
Everything You Need To Know About The Nuna Mixx
No matter which model you finally decide on you can be sure that you will be getting one of the best full-sized, convertible strollers that are currently available. Not only is it packed with great features but it also looks chic and stylish.
But there are some important differences between the 3 models that you should be aware of as these may impact your decision.
Seat
All three models come with a standard seat that is suitable from birth up to 50 pounds. The seat also comes with a 5 position recline providing your baby with the highest level of comfort during extended journeys and naps.
The seat can easily be reclined with one hand using the handle located on the rear of the seat. You can also adjust the calf and foot support.
The Nuna Mixx seat also has a feature where you can lift the calf rest all the way up and snap it to both sides of the seat frame, this creates an enclosed space for your sleeping baby.
For older children, you can also adjust the calf rest for naps, and for taller children, there is a step where they can rest their feet. The footrest is not adjustable and can only be used when the seat is in the forward-facing position.
The seat does offer the great feature of allowing your baby to be parent facing or forward facing and changing the seat is quick and easy to do – you just press two buttons on both sides of the seat and lift it up.
On all 3 models, you also have the option to attach a removable armbar, providing a comfortable place for your baby to hold on to while keeping them safe at the same time.

There are some differences between these 3 models and the biggest being the padding and material in the seat.
The Nuna Mixx2 comes with deep, soft, and comfortable seat padding. It is made from a cotton blend fabric which is also quite breathable. The seat pad can also be removed for washing.
This is a great feature as the seat will get dirty and being able to pop it in the washing machine is both convenient and practical. No need to worry about struggling to pop it back on as it all goes back together easily, just snapping into place.
The 2019 Nuna Mixx received an upgrade to its seat when they popped in the new all-season seat. The padding is now made of bamboo which wicks away moisture.
This padding is removable and underneath you will find a mesh seatback. This is all still machine washable perfect for when those nasty accidents occur.
The new seat is ideal for all seasons as it can easily be adjusted to the weather conditions. This is the same all-season seat that is featured on the Nuna MIXX NEXT.
The seat on all 3 models is mounted quite high on the frame, this is great for getting your baby in and out with ease.
Both the Mixx 2019 and Mixx Next have their seats mounted even higher and are great for when your child is older as it can also be used as a seat in restaurants as it is table height.
Harness
The Nuna Mixx2 had a standard harness that took some getting used to. But both the 2019 and the Mixx Next had an upgraded harness. The new harness is a no-thread harness and is super easy to adjust.
The harness can also be easily converted from a 5 point harness to a 3 point harness as your child grows.
Bassinet
The Mixx series also offers the option of connecting a bassinet. The bassinet provides the optimum position for newborns and can be used from birth to 20 pounds or 27 inches whichever comes first. The bassinet does weigh 11.2 pounds.
It has a canopy with an integrated mesh window that provides extra air circulation and there is a hidden storage pocket so parents can keep all their essentials close at hand.
The bassinet also comes with a Dream Drape which is designed to provide your baby with undisturbed sleep, providing full shade while still allowing air circulation.
The bassinet also comes with an apron that is removable, thanks to release magnets and it is fully machine washable.
It is also approved for overnight use, meaning that you can use it instead of a crib – you would just need to purchase the special Nuna bassinet stand.
The bassinet can also be easily folded when not in use making it easy and convenient to store even if you are lacking in space.
Travel System

All 3 models, the Mixx2, Mixx 2019, and Mixx Next can be turned into a travel system. The Nuna Mixx2 comes with adapters that are compatible with the Nuna PIPA series infant car seat, as well as Maxi Cosi and Cybex infant car seats.
The Nuna Mixx 2019 and Nuna Mixx Next both come with a different type of adapter called a ring adapter. This type of adapter holds the infant car seat more securely.
This ring adapter can only be used with the Nuna PIPA infant car seat and not with the Maxi Cosi or Cybex. If you are looking for a travel system, then why not check out our 10 Best Travel System Strollers.
Canopy
The large breathable canopy is one of the best features of the Mixx series. The fabric provides a UPF 50+ protection from the sun and due to how far it extends it offers really amazing coverage for your baby.
The canopy has three panels, the middle one opens with a zipper and also has a mesh panel on each side, providing extra ventilation.

The canopy also comes with a peek-a-boo window that is accessed with silent magnets instead of the usual noisy velcro. All 3 models also come with a flip-out sun visor offering further sun protection.
There is one major difference between the Mixx2 and Mixx 2019 canopy and that is that the Mixx2 has a larger peek-a-boo window. But the Mixx 2019 has an additional mesh vent below the viewing window.
Wheels
All three strollers have the same wheel size – 11 inch rear wheels and a 7.5-inch front wheel.
The rear wheels have large rubber tires that are filled with foam so they can handle almost any terrain while also minimizing bumps and shocks on your little one. The front wheels are plastic and so do not handle big bumps well.
This combination of wheels makes the stroller suitable for sidewalks, cobblestone, gravel, grass, and hard-packed sand. But they will not handle trails, roots, or bark chips.
This combination also means that you do not have to worry about inflating your tires either. The wheels look as stylish as they are versatile. Chrome black wheels with white trim against the dark matte frame look stylish and chic.
Suspension and Maneuverability
Both the Nuna Mixx2 and Mixx 2019 are super easy to push even with one hand and they have an incredibly small turning circle. This also means that they are great for use as a city stroller just as easy as using them as a full-size one.
These strollers are also great on uneven terrain as well thanks to large foam rear wheels and the suspension technology that is built into all four wheels.
So whether you are strolling the city streets or fancy a slightly rougher terrain this stroller will be able to continue to provide a smooth and comfortable ride for both your baby and you.
The Nuna Mixx NEXT has an upgraded suspension that can handle those bumps even better by absorbing the shocks and still providing a smooth, comfortable ride whether you are walking on snow, pavement, or sandy road.
Brakes
All three models are equipped with a single action foot brake that locks the rear wheels. The foot pedal is situated in the center of the rear axle and comes with color indicators. The brake is easy and intuitive to operate.
To lock the stroller you need to step on the red side and to release the brake you just need to press the green part.
The best thing about this braking system is that it can be operated no matter what footwear you are sporting that day, from flip flops, sneakers, or even high heels.
Handlebar
The Nuna Mixx2, Nuna Mixx 2019, and Nuna Mixx NEXT come with a height-adjustable telescopic handlebar. It extends from 38 inches to 42 inches from the ground, allowing it to easily be adjusted for parents of differing heights.

There is one difference between the Nuna Mixx2 and Mixx 2019 and that is the handlebar covers – Mixx2 had all black covers while the Mixx 2019 has a hand-sewn brown leather-look covering.
Basket Space
All three models come with some amazing storage options. The under-seat basket is huge allowing you to easily fit a large diaper bag, your purse, some snacks, and even a blanket or some groceries.
It is also super easy to access from both the back and either side. It also comes with a divider so you can keep things separate, but it can also be used as one big storage space. It comes down to personal preference.
The Mixx also comes with a zippered pocket inside the under-seat basket where you can keep keys and wallet securely.
There is one difference between the Mixx2 and the Mixx 2019 and that is that the Mixx2 comes with an additional storage pocket on the rear of the seat. It has silent magnetic closures so no need to worry about waking a sleeping baby.
The Mixx 2019 and Mixx NEXT have smaller pockets. The reason for this is that their seats come with two layers with the outer layer being made of mesh.
Weight and Folding
All 3 models are standard full-size strollers and so weigh more than lightweight travel strollers but they do weigh less than a standard jogger.
Nuna has been working on creating a more compact fold to make the Mixx easier to store and carry in a vehicle. Check out the dimensions below.
