To be honest both of these formulas are great and each one has its own advantages for the specific age group that it is recommended for. For example if you have a newborn who needs as much protein and nutrients that they can get with great brain developing nutrients as well then the Enfamil Newborn would be a good choice. But if you have a 3 month old who is starting to develop cognitive skills then the Enfamil Infant would be the choice for you.

With this in mind, I believe that they are both winners! Enfamil Newborn and Enfamil Infant are equally good at the job they were developed to do.

Switching from Newborn to Infant Formula

The recommended age for newborn formula is 0-3 months. After this time you will need to consider switching your baby on to an all round formula. This switch can take place as soon as your baby turns 3 months old or you may choose to wait a few weeks.

Either way, there is no ideal way of switching from newborn to infant formula. You must be prepared that your once content and peaceful baby may become fussy and miserable. Weaning needs to be carried out gradually over a 7 day period. This will give your baby the greatest chance of a smooth transition.

Things to look out for when you are transitioning from newborn formula to infant formula are that your baby may become fussy, they may start waking through the night for feeding or even a diaper change when previously they had slept soundly all night. They may have gas and may even be constipated or have diarrhea.

The cause of these issues may be the slight changes in nutrients. Things should settle down in a few days and your happy content baby will return!

If you continue to have any issues then it would be best to consult your pediatrician for advice.
