BabyBjorn Carrier One Review
The Basic Facts Of The Carrier One
These are the basic facts of the Carrier One.
Weight
The Carrier One is suitable for babies from 8 to 33 pounds, approximately 0-3 years depending on the size and weight of the individual child.
Carrying positions
It comes with four carrying positions, newborn no insert is required, facing-in a great position for bonding, facing-out suitable from around 5 months, and back carry suitable from around 12 months.
Machine washable
The Carrier One is machine washable at 40 degrees. But it should not be tumble dried, instead, leave to drip dry.
Comfort
It comes with a sturdy waist belt and padded shoulder straps that help to relieve the pressure on your back and shoulders. They’re also fully adjustable for the wearer to get the perfect fit each and every time you use them.
Safety and Comfort
One way to ensure your baby carrier is safe to use is by making sure that it allows your baby to have a clear airway.
Babies can not support the full weight of their head until at least 6 months old, this means children under this age run the risk of blocking their airway if their head falls forward.
BabyBjorn carriers include adjustable head support to help with this. The support attaches to the straps of the carrier and you can then adjust them to the perfect position for both you and your child.
This head support is also brilliant for outward-facing children as the support folds down allowing your baby to experience the world with you.
A carrier should support your child’s back and under their bum, much like a parent would cradle them. This allows your baby to feel safe and comfortable as this is a familiar position.
The positioning of your baby’s hips whilst being carried is also very important as having the hips in an uncomfortable position could potentially lead to hip dysplasia and other issues later on.
Your baby’s hips and legs should form an ‘M’ shape, legs and knees bent above the hip level and left to hang.
The BabyBjorn Carrier One, One Air, and Free are all certified by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute to show that they properly support the baby’s legs, hips, and spine.

Breathable 3D Mesh
Breathable 3D mesh is unique to the design of BabyBjorn carriers. It is made of three layers including a single thread middle layer to keep you and your baby cool.
The flexibility of this mesh allows it to mold into the perfect shape for the user making it perfect for everyone.
The BabyBjorn carrier itself is only available in cotton but the One Air is a very similar carrier and is available in the 3d Mesh. Three out of the four BabyBjorn carriers come in 3D Mesh fabric.
Washable
We all know that babies love to make a mess and this is no different when they are in a carrier. This is another reason the BabyBjorn carriers are great, they are 100% machine washable.
All you need to do is use a warm washing cycle and gentle detergent and allow it to air dry afterward.
Benefits of the BabyBorn One Carrier
People tend to think that baby-carriers are only for newborns and young babies but this isn’t the case. Carriers can still be used when your little one is a toddler.
BabyBjorn carriers allow for this as they are suitable for children up to the age of three. But even if you only wish to use a carrier in the baby years it still is a great choice.
The Carrier One and One Air have two height options that can be adjusted as your baby grows. These carriers allow for toddlers to be carried on your back as most parents prefer this. but it does still enable them to continue being carried on your front.
One of BabyBjorn’s main goals is ensuring your baby’s safety and comfort. This is why all of their carriers have been developed and tested with the help of medical specialists.
The design is simple whilst also holding your child in an upright position to allow for free air passages, good support for their neck and head, and space to move their arms and legs.
No need to worry about soreness in your back and shoulders from carrying your little one all day. The sturdy waist belt and padded shoulders relieve pressure from these areas making babywearing possible up to the age of three.

Concerns of the BabyBjorn One Carrier
Baby carriers tend to include a bib and cover. The cover being something similar to a small coat that helps keep your baby warm and sheltered from harsh weather and the bib usually covers the front of the carrier where babies tend to chew.
The BabyBjorn bib is made of soft fabric with a waterproof membrane that can be comforting to sore gums whilst also keeping you and the carrier dry.
Both bib and carrier also meet the criteria for OEKO-TEX Standard 100, Class 1 for baby products. This means that they’re perfectly safe if your baby decides to chew on them.
The outer layer of the coat is waterproof while the inner layer is a warm fleece. The coat can be used on both inward and outward-facing babies and it can be adjusted to fit all sizes.
Both are great products by BabyBjorn which is why many customers feel let down when they realize the carrier does not come with these items.
Many find the BabyBjorn Carrier One to not be budget-friendly. The BabyBjorn Mini is more affordable but only lasts around a year meaning in order for you to get a long-lasting baby carrier, you might have to spend a bit more.
There are other options available for less such as wrap carriers or ring slings but parents tend to find these difficult to use.
The adjustable head support is designed to fold down once your baby is forward-facing but it has nothing to connect it to the body of the carrier.
The neck support does tend to stay down but some parents may worry that it could pop back up and block their baby’s vision.
FAQs
Can a baby sleep in BabyBjorn carriers?
The short answer is yes! If the carrier is used correctly then your baby can certainly have a nap in them.
This allows you to be hands-free when the baby snoozes which means you can knock some things off that to-do list or simply enjoy the peace and quiet.
Can both parents use the BabyBjorn carriers?
Absolutely! Every BabyBjorn carrier is adjustable so that it can fit everyone meaning you and your partner can both have that closeness with your child in the first few years of their life.
Why are different babywearing options a good thing?
In the few months of a baby’s life, it is best to carry them inward-facing as they require a lot of closeness at this age, this also allows you to strengthen the bond you have with them.
Both the warmth of your breath and the sound of your heartbeat is reassuring and comforting to your baby.
When your baby’s neck is stronger at around 5 months, you may want to start carrying them outward-facing, babies are curious little things and love seeing the world working around them.
Around one year old is a good age to start carrying your baby on your back if you feel comfortable doing so.
The Final Thought
BabyBjorn is a recognized and trusted name in baby carriers. They offer great comfort and support to both parents and babies alike.
The Carrier One will see you through your babywearing journey from start to finish allowing you to keep your little one close as they grow.
It may be a less budget-friendly option but considering the potentially extended timeframe that you can use the carrier we think that it is well worth the money.
